The Nasarawa State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), on Sunday suspended its 19-day-old strike after signing a memorandum of understanding with the state government.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia, the Chairman of the chapel, Mr Titi Jatau, said the suspension was due to the commitment shown by the state government.
The chairman called on the members of the union to resume work on Monday.
Jatau said the union suspended the strike after an emergency meeting in Lafia.
He said that the state government made a commitment to commence the payment of April and May salaries of primary school teachers by June 25.
He appealed to the state government to henceforth pay the salaries of teachers as and when due to enthrone a peaceful learning environment. (NAN)
