Nasarawa killings: 18 more bodies of murdered policemen recovered

No fewer than eighteen more bodies of the policemen killed by suspected members of a cult group, Ombatse, in Alakyo village, Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State have been recovered.

Over 40 policemen were killed in an ambush a week ago.

Most of the recovered bodies were on Sunday deposited at the mortuary of the Dalhatu Araf Specialists Hospital,DASH), Lafia.

DailyPost gathered that some of the bodies were exhumed from shallow graves while others were removed from an abandoned well.

The militia group are also said to be lurking around the area of the incident which authority has declared unsafe.

Meanwhile, the Akwanga-Lafia road on Sunday remained blocked as at Monday morning by spouses of the slain policemen, ignoring the plea by the IG to dismantle the roadblock.

The women among other demands wanted the recovery and release of all the late officers welfare support and protection from further attacks.

Reacting to their action, state Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, Michael Ada, said the Commissioner, Abayomi Akeremale, has directed the Police Area Commander in Akwanga and the Divisional Police Officer,DPO, in Nasarawa Eggon to ensure that the protesting widows comply with the directive to dismantle the roadblock.
