Jose Mourinho submitted an eyewatering £95million bid for Kalidou Koulibaly, before he was sacked by Manchester United, Napoli’s president has claimed.

The Portuguese was axed at Old Trafford on Tuesday, after a poor start to the season left the club 19 points behind Premier League table toppers Liverpool.

Mourinho had complained at the Manchester United board’s failure to sign a new centre-back in the summer and he was determined to sign Koulibaly.

And Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, confirmed the club had tabled a huge offer for the 27-year-old Senegal international, which was rejected by his club.

“Mourinho wanted him, we rejected £95 million.

“But now it’s impossibile that he leaves Napoli,” De Laurentiis said according to the UK Metro.
