The management of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Wednesday, said it has unearthed a plot by some elements in the agency, working with political forces to use its platform to plant a major but false story with a fake email address bearing NAN’s name and official imprint.
The motive behind the plot, according to a statement signed by the management of the agency, was to cause public disaffection, chaos and unrest.
“The management of NAN, therefore, wishes to alert all our subscribers and the general public to this evil plot.
“We wish to point out that only news and information from our official portal www.nannewsnigeria.com is the agency’s authentic news service delivery.
“The Agency uses this opportunity to put the various security agencies on notice about this plot and urges them to assist in ensuring that it is nipped in the bud,” the statement read.
