Head coach of Namibia’s U-17 women’s team, Melvin Mbakera, has alleged that their Nigerian counterparts, the Flamingoes, are fielding overage players.

Last weekend, the Flamingoes hammered Namibia 4-0, in the first leg of their FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup qualifier in Abuja.

Mbakera expressed his displeasure in an interview with Brila FM and described it as unfair on football.

“The game between U-23 players against U-17 players,” he said.

“This is not fair and this is the reason why most countries don’t want to play in the U-17.

“Nigeria’s first goal was brilliant, but their three other goals were as a result of our players errors.”

Namibia will be hoping to overturn the four-goal deficit, when they host the return leg in Windhoek.
