The trial of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh continues today with the cross examination of the first defence witness, Comodore Abdullahi Yushau (rtd).
Yushau, a former Director of Accounts with the Nigerian Air Force had recently told the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja how Baden diverted the sum of N1.1bn to purchase a property in Maitama area of Abuja where he will retire to.
The defence witnessed in his testimony had explained how the former military chief approved over N558m monthly from the salaries and allowances of Air force personnel which he converted into dollars and personally handed over to Badeh in his then official residence in Niger barracks Abuja.
Yushau in his testimony had disclosed how Badeh bought a single property for his second son, Kam worth N340m which the son rejected and in a bid to pacify him, the former defence chief purchased another worth N330m all in Abuja.
The witness also informed the court that Badeh procured another property worth N260m at Wuse 2 for his first son, Alex Badeh jnr and renovated it with N60m while the furnishing cost N90m.
Yushau on March 24 had told the court how Badeh approved the funds from the salaries and allowances of Air Force personnel.
Justice Okon Abang had adjourned the matter till April 8 but had to defer it till today for cross examination of the defence witness.
