N2.7bn approved for roads upgrade in Abuja

Abuja roads received the attention of the Federal Executive Council, presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday as the council approved the reconstruction of some of the City’s road with a contract worth N2.7 billion.

According to the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, who spoke with state house correspondents at the end of the FEC meeting, the contract is for the upgrading of some aging roads in Garki and Wuse districts of the FCT.

He said the reconstruction, divided into two phases started in 2012 when a contract worth N2.5 billion was awarded, adding that the first phase is nearing completion.
