Over 1000 beneficiaries of the Federal Government Social Intervention Scheme, N-Power Programme, Tuesday, staged protest at the Ekiti State Focal Office.

The protesters lamented that they were being owed six months allowance and called on the President Muhammadu Buhari led-government to pay them.

The protesters, carrying placards, asked the federal government to fulfill its promise as they were suffering.

The crowd also chanted “Pay us, government, pay us”, among other solidarity songs.

The youths decried the rigorous process they had been made to go through over claims that their names were not properly matched or that they had no acceptable BVN numbers.

“Some of us left our private jobs to be part of N-Power but we have not been paid, we want to know the reason.

“We want to know why they have not released out money,” one protester said.

Another, a female, said: “We ask the federal government if it is a crime that we took part in the scheme. They said the fault is BVN. We corrected it, yet we have not been paid our stipend.”
