A faction of the Kebbi state chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has backed the sack of the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Alhaji Murtala Usman.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state chapter of the NLC on Tuesday announced Usman’s removal from office for being incompetent.
A statement issued by Alhaji Kakale Dan-Ashi, acting chairman of the state NUT, disowned an earlier statement issued by a faction of the union that the NUT was against the removal of the NLC chairman.
“The earlier position of the union as canvassed by a faction led by Malam Sunusi Umar declaring that the union is not in support of the removal is not tenable.
“Umar made the statement as a result of ill health,” Dan-Ashi said in a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.
Dan-Ashi said that the state NUT was among the 26 affiliates of the NLC in the state which supported the removal of the chairman.
He called on members of labour unions in the state to support Usman’s removal his ineptitude. (NAN)
