Former Senate President, Senator David Mark had expressed sadness over the killings carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Agatu Local Government Area in Benue State.
Mark made the remark during his 68th birthday anniversary on Friday.
A statement by Marks aide, Paul Mumeh quoted the former Senate president as saying, “My heart bleeds when I see my people massacred in Agatu. I am saddened that suddenly our people became refugees in their homes.

“I pray that peace returns as soon as possible so that the survivors and all the displaced people scattered in various internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps, return to their homes.”
Mark also called on the Federal Government to do everything to rehabilitate those displaced.
“I call on the Federal Government to do everything possible to resettle the beleaguered Agatu people.”
“We must do all we can, to live in peace in Nigeria. I earnestly crave for a crime-free society, where all citizens are free to pursue their legitimate ambitions anywhere, without molestation.”
Mark further stated that growth and development is only possible in an environment where tranquility reigns.
