The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode has given assurances that if the APC wins in 2015, the party will emancipate Nigerian youths from the pang of joblessness and insecurity.
Ambode made the promise on Saturday at the Gani Fawehimi Freedom Park, venue of the 10,000 Youth March for Ambode organised by the Ambode Youth Initiative, a volunteer support group for his governorship ambition.
He said his government and the administration of General Muhammadu Buhari will change the fortunes of the younger generation for the better.
“We have started our campaigns and I’m happy we have started with you the youths. This project and campaign is for the youths and we are in this together. This is because this campaign, project and election are about Nigerian youths because we have had enough.
“We want to say thank you to the 10, 000 youths that have volunteered to support this course. At least, it is not that we put money in your pockets; you just decided that you will support us. I’m going to be the bridge between the elders and the youths. I’m going to give government back to the youths,” he assured.
Ambode, who said youths are central to the realisation of the objectives of his government, promised that security and economic improvement to create gainful employment are going to be the cardinal objectives of his administration.
“There is no way to do all that we want to do without the youths. We want to give governance back to the community and all of you will be involved in the jobs we are going to create,” Ambode assured.
