Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has stated that his former aide, Zakariah Hassan Sinimbut, who claimed to have resigned was actually sacked.
Sinimbut, Dogara’s former Senior Legislative Aide (SLA), in Bauchi on Tuesday said he resigned his appointment. He denied working against the speaker.
But Dogara in a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Iliya Habila, stated that Sinimbut was fired after collecting his January salary.
“While it is not the norm for the office of the speaker to join issues with a former aide, it has, however, become necessary to put the records in clear perspective.
“The aide in question was warned and told in clear terms that he would be relieved of his position for sundry conducts unbecoming of an aide of the number four citizen in Nigeria.
“The Office of the Speaker does not announce appointment of aides on radio or television and does not announce replacement of aides either.
“The speaker wishes him well as he pursues his promised future of deputy chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State,” the statement said.
