Enyimba striker, Mfon Udoh, has admitted that his biggest priority this season is to win the Nigeria Premier Football League title.
The Akwa Ibom-born player is NPFL’s all-time record goal scorer with 23 goals, but has insisted that he is not eager about winning the top scorer award this term.
Although Udoh has struggled for form and fitness this term, the 23-year-old is determined to finish the campaign well.
“Well, my personal target for the season is to grab the league shield. I think that’s what will do me a great fulfillment this season,” Udoh told Goal.
“I’m not discouraged, though disappointed anyway but won’t blame myself that much due to my illness because it could happen to anybody.
“But now I’m happy that I’m back on my feet. Life goes on and this is football, what you can do yesterday and cannot do today, does not mean you can’t do it tomorrow.”
Udoh also hailed the Elephants’ improvement this season and revealed that his team-mates were motivated to win the big prize.
“If you remember this time last season, we had already lost 11 matches but this time, we’ve only lost three. This shows we have recorded a lot of improvement.
“We improved well than in our last outing in the league. We have been working so hard as players in ensuring we are in our current position.
“That day is going to be great one, a fulfilled day and a thing of joy to win the league title. That’s why we are working so hard to get result in every game,” he continued.
“There is no motivation or inspiration from anywhere; I must sincerely tell you that all we are doing is just to cheer ourselves up just to win the league shield.
“This is because most of us as players have never won the league title and remembering when last we won the title as a club to write our names in gold.”
