Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, Wednesday, fired back at the opposition parties in the state, that earlier accused him of running the state into bankruptcy, describing the accusation as baseless.
Amosun said this after inspecting some ongoing projects in Ogun Waterside and Ijebu-East councils.
He described the activities in the local governments since he assumed office as encouraging.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bashorun Oladipo, the Governor said the opposition parties in the state criticise his government because they wanted to be heard.
It would be recalled that the Labour Party and the Peoples Party of Nigeria in the state had in recent times claimed that chairmen in the 20 local governments had failed to perform since they were elected, accusing the government of muzzling them.
Amosun said, “These opposition parties don’t have anything to do. They must criticise the performing government just to be heard. Let them say what they have to say, we will do what we have to do and we are already doing what we have to do.”
