Chairman of the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) in Ekiti State, Chief Dare Adekoya, has said the present realities in the state have positioned the party for victory in the July 14 governorship and future elections in Ekiti.
Adekola said the difficult situation that past and present administrations had put Ekiti and its people through had made MPN the party of choice and destination point for Ekiti electorate.
The MPN boss, who spoke in Ado Ekiti shortly after he received the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) South West Zonal Director, Mohammed Bello, expressed confidence in the ability of his party to win the election, “to rescue our people”.
He said: “The immediate past APC administration plunged Ekiti into over N50 billion debt. And under the present PDP government, the debt profile has increased to over N100 billion and there is nothing to show for it. Ekiti people can feel the pains and have chosen MPN as way out”.
Adekoya, who said his party comprised men of integrity who are genuinely committed to setting the state free and making development a reality once again, said, “the five MPN aspirants for the election are competent and eligible.”
According to him, the five aspirants who have been screened by the party national leadership are former deputy governor, Chief Abiodun Aluko: former National Assembly member, Dr Bode Olowoporoku: Ambassador Ayedele Ayodeji: Dr Bode Olowo: and Mrs Bola Adedina.
He said: “We are for the common good of the state. None of our aspirants is pursuing selfish agenda. Our congress holding on May 5 and our primary election billed for May 12 will be free, fair, credible, transparent and acceptable. Our membership drive is yielding positive results daily and the support we receive everywhere is loud. These are victory assurances for us”.
Adekola assured the FRCN director that his party would continue with the ongoing governorship campaign with civility and according to the rules of the game.
Earlier, Bello had appealed to politicians in the state to apply decorum in their undertakings and ensure the campaigns did not threaten the peace of the state and the country.
