Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has said he wants to stay at the club beyond the three-year contract he signed in the summer.

Mourinho, who replaced Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, however admits the results must improve for that to happen.

United will take on Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday, in a match they must not lose if they are to qualify for the knockout stages.

Elimination will heap more pressure on Mourinho, whose team has won just twice in the Premier League since August.

Mourinho said: “Let’s go step by step. I am in the beginning of my contract, in the beginning of the process.

“If you ask me if I want to stay longer than three years then I say yes, I would love it, but also I have to earn and deserve that.

“If the club feels I deserve to stay then I will be very, very proud.”
