Mourinho says Chelsea will cope without Costa against Spurs

Jose Mourinho has said that he is not worried about Diego Costa’s unavailability, for the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur next Wednesday.

The striker was shown his fifth yellow card of the season, as Chelsea were held to a goalless draw at Sunderland on Saturday.

Costa escaped a sending off earlier, after he kicked out at John O’Shea, but was eventually booked for flinging an arm at Wes Brown.

“We don’t cry about injured or suspended players,” Mourinho told reporters. “If he’s suspended, he is suspended. We have Drogba and Remy.

“We are top of the league and we have another match on Wednesday.”

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet, was also coy with his comments, when he was asked about the feisty nature of the Spain international.

“He is always close to the limit,” Poyet said. “I think the decisions can go one way or the other. I haven’t watched the video yet. They are 50/50s; one day they go for you and others they don’t.

“If it was Lee Cattermole, he would have got sent off for sure.”
