Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has emerged a shock contender to replace Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid.
Lopetegui is in the hot seat at the Santiago Bernabeu, after his side failed to score in their last four fixtures.
They also sit in 4th place in LaLiga.
Real president, Florentino Perez, remains a fan and a friend of Mourinho and Diario AS reports he could get the call to return.
Madrid have rehired managers in the past (Fabio Capello, Jose Camacho and John Toshack) and Mourinho has also gone back for a second stint at the same club (Chelsea).
Antonio Conte was on the shortlist in the summer, but concerns over his disciplinarian approach went against him.
