Mourinho eyes Manchester United job

Jose Mourinho is keen on replacing Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager.

Sources close to the Portuguese, who was sacked this week by Chelsea, claim his representatives have already began trying to make it a reality.

Mourinho has long desired to coach United and with Van Gaal under pressure at Old Trafford, the 52-year-old could realise his ambitions.

Other reports in the British media, insist that United are more eager to land Pep Guardiola, who is expected to confirm his departure from Bayern Munich when his deal runs out next year.

Alex Ferguson is believed to have suggested Mourinho as his successor when was retiring in 2013, but key officials were not convinced about his personality and brand of football.

Sir Bobby Charlton publicly said “a United manager wouldn’t do” the type of things Mourinho does.

United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has a strong relationship with the former Real Madrid boss’ agent Jorge Mendes, and that would facilitate any move.
