Jose Mourinho is looking to qualify for the next round of the Champions League, with two games to spare.
The Portuguese watched on, as his team managed a 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night, to take control of Group G.
Chelsea, who drew their first match against Schalke 04, now have 4 points. The Germans were held to a 1-1 draw by Maribor in the other match. Up next for the Premier League side, is a double header against the Slovenian minnows.
“We missed a lot of chances, I know, but we got three points and in the group it is about points,” Mourinho said.
“Now we are in control of our destiny. Next we play two games against Maribor. If we manage six points, that would be 10 and job done, so we have just to focus on beating Maribor.
“With chances we had, it could have finished 4-0 or 5-0 but when we couldn’t transform our dominance into goals, we had to make sure we closed the door on them and that’s what we did.’’
