Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, has slammed youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek, after his display in the club’s post-season friendly against Sydney FC.
Loftus-Cheek was taken off after only 25 minutes on the pitch, during the game at Sydney’s ANZ stadium, played in front of 84,000 fans.
Mourinho expressed his displeasure with the 19-year-old’s commitment and admitted that his relationship with the player has been damaged.
The former Real Madrid manager said Loftus-Cheek’s attitude was “unacceptable” and said his relationship had “taken a step back”, before adding: “He said it was a pain in his back but to me it looked like he only had that pain when Sydney had the ball.”
Mourinho had promised to include the midfielder in his first team squad regularly next season, after he put in some impressive performances for the U-21 squad.
Chelsea defeated Sydney 1-0 thanks to Loic Remy’s strike.
