Bayelsa governorship aspirant, Moses Siasia has lambasted the Bayelsa State Government on the treatment meted out to members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, posted to the state.
Scores of corps members had gone to the Government House to protest non-payment their allowance.
But in a bid to disperse the protesting youths, security agents fired gun shots in the air and also teargased the corps members.
Reacting, Siasia described the act as “despicable and unfortunate”.
He said it was a shame that leaders of tomorrow were treated with such impunity within the precinct of the office of state governor, Seriake Dickson.
Continuing, he told DAILY POST that he was “deeply sad and worried that a government that couldn’t pay corps members their allowances now have the energy to beat them up.
“Every government all over the world should mentor and guide the youths not maltreat them.”
Siasia further urged relevant authorities to look into the plight of the corps members and do the needful without further delay.
