More than 50 suspected Boko Haram insurgents arrested in Enugu, 21 detained

Twenty one suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have been arrested at Obollo-Afor in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Obollo-Afor is the gateway between the South-East and the Northern part of the country.A police source said the suspects would be fully interrogated at the Enugu State Police Command to ascertain their true mission. DailyPost gathered that the suspects were traveling to Kaduna with several military uniform concealed inside a luxurious bus.

They were intercepted by the National Task Force (NATFORCE) at Amala in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Enquiries showed that the suspects, who left Aba, Abia State around 2 am for Kaduna, were intercepted at the wee hours of Wednesday at the boarder community in Enugu State.

A source told DailyPost that an army sergeant on special duty at Xerox Construction Company in Ohaofia Abia State procured the military uniforms and employed the services of the suspects for onward delivery to an army corporal in Kaduna for an undisclosed mission.

The army sergeant whose identity was not ascertained as at the time of filling this report was said to have been on the illegal business for quite a while.

A police source who spoke with DailyPost said the luxurious bus, belonging to the Young Shall Grow Company, not fully loaded at Aba, stopped over in Enugu to pick other passengers.

He said the passengers unknowingly mixed up with the dreaded Islamic sects to Kaduna.

The arrest of the 21 suspects at Obollo-Afor has sent shivers to residents of the area and the entire South-East who were still terrified by the earlier arrest of over 400 other suspects in Abia State.

The Area commander of the Nigeria Police Area Command, Nsukka, Ros-Amson Musa Haladu (ACP) while reacting to the arrest of the alleged Boko Haram suspects said that full scale investigations would be carried out to authenticate their true mission.

Meanwhile the suspects were still been held at Udenu Police Division, alongside the luxury bus, waiting to be conveyed to Enugu State Police Headquarters for further interrogation.

When contacted on the matter, the PPRO Enugu State Command, Ebere Amarizu (DSP) said that the command was yet to get details of the matter.
