Monaco on Thursday, rejected a bid of 50million euros (£44.5million) from Manchester City, for their full-back Benjamin Mendy.
The Ligue 1 champions are demanding for the same amount it took to sign Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur – a deal that is worth £50million plus add-ons which could see it rise to £53million.
Mendy, 23, is four years younger than Walker and the French club also regard him as a better player.
Sources at Monaco also claim they have now received an enquiry from Chelsea about the left-back, with the Premier League champions being asked to be kept informed on developments.
Chelsea have so far not been successful in their attempts to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus.
