Governor Kashim Shettima
Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno, on Sunday, urged APC stakeholders to go to the grassroots for mobilisation of members.
He made the call at the inaugural meeting of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the North East Zone in Bauchi.
Addressing the meeting, the governor, who is the Coordinator of the PCC, said all stakeholders must go to the grassroots and mobilise teeming supporters.
According to him, all APC stalwarts and chieftains must reunite and be extra vigilant so as not to be divided.
“We should all go back to the grassroots in our region and mobilise our people,” he added.
The governor assured the meeting that as governors, they would do all they could to ensure justice was done to the party.
He said that the zone had been short changed in the 2014 Federal Government budget, adding that in the budget, the zone was allocated N236 billion, while the South-South zone was given N661 billion.
Earlier, Amb. Baba Jidda, the Secretary to the Borno Government, had announced that one of the important APC stakeholders, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, had sent an apology for not being able to attend the meeting.
He said Abubakar was away on foreign trip but had indicated deep support for the meeting.
He also announced that the former vice president had donated N10 million for the organisation of the meeting.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that APC governorship, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates in the zone and other APC members attended the meeting.
