Former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Chief Onyemuche Nnamami has accused the Enugu State chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye, of ridiculing President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Nwoye, Onyeama was destroying APC in the state.
“This is a man who has penchant for thuggery and pulling down of the party structure,” he had alleged.
Reacting, Nnamani accused Nwoye of committing “anti-party act”.
He said, “Nwoye’s statement is in serious breach of the party’s constitution especially Article 21 section A, sub-section ii, which states clearly that offences against the party include “any conduct, which is likely to embarrass or have adverse effect on the Party or bring the Party into hatred, contempt, ridicule or disrepute.
“Saying that the President committed a terrible mistake has not only ridiculed the party but has also caused serious embarrassment to the President and by extension, the entire members of the party.”
Toeing the same line, a front-line APC chieftain, Chief Ejike Njeze described Onyeama’s nomination as a recognition of excellence and reward for performance, loyalty and selfless service.
According to Njeze, “The President simply placed a round peg in a round hole”.
He also commended the President for the calibre of distinguished party faithful he nominated from the different parts of the country to form his new cabinet and expressed optimism that they will deliver beyond the expectations of Nigerians.
Njeze decried what he called unwarranted attacks on the President by few misguided party leaders challenging his choice of ministerial nominees.
“If a party man cannot respect the decision of the number one man and leader of a party, what else will he obey?” Njeze asked.
Speaking in the same vein, the Enugu East APC senatorial candidate in the 2019 elections, Princess Adaku Ogbu-Aguocha said President Muhammadu Buhari had shown uncommon wisdom in the selection of his cabinet, most especially, the re-nomination of Geoffrey Onyeama.
She said the outbreak of jubilation upon the announcement of Onyeama’s nomination in many parts of the state showed wide acceptability and outright endorsement by Ndi Enugu.
“Geoffrey Onyeama is a perfect gentleman, a seasoned diplomat and a selfless leader who had made great strides in his first term as a minister of Foreign Affairs. I strongly believe he’ll surpass his previous achievements with this second opportunity,” the APC chieftain said.
