Ministerial list: What Fashola told Senate during screening

Former Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, now a ministerial nominee, on Monday, declared that federal projects were currently ongoing in every state of the country.

Fashola, who was the immediate past Minister of Work, Housing and Power, stated this during his ministerial screening on the floor of the Senate.

The former minister disclosed that at the time he left office, his ministry was working on roads in 14 universities.

He said: “During my first term as minister of power, we recovered 720 containers of electricity equipment abandoned at ports

“In our closing report, there was no state that were not executing a federal project.

“We also had roads that decongested and led to ports.”

Fashola also said that states are empowered by the law to generate and distribute power.

“Since privatisation occurred, the ministry of power ceased to be a major player in the sector. We only deal with regulatory issues now,” he said.

The Senate had on Tuesday last week commenced the screening of the ministerial list President Muhammadu Buhari sent to them for confirmation among whom was Fashola.

Nominees include: Chris Ngige, Hadi Sirika, Rotimi Amaechi, Adamu Adamu, Mohammed Adamu, and Lai Mohammed.

Others in the list are: Uche Ogah, Emeka Nwajuiba, Sadiya Farouk, Musa Bello, Godswill Akpabio, Sharon Ikeazor, Ogbonnaya Onu, Akpa Udo, and Adebayo (Ekiti).

Also, Timipre Sylva, Adamu Adamu, Shewuye (Borno), Isa Pantami, Gbemi Saraki, Ramatu Tijani, Clement Abam.

Also declared as part of the list are: Paullen Tallen, Abubakar Aliyu, Sale Mamman, Abubakar Malami, Muhammed Mamood, Rauf Aregbesola, Mustapha Buba Jedi Agba, Olamilekan Adegbite, and Mohammed Dangyadi.
