The Commissioner said, having abandoned the stadium for eight years, Mimiko deliberately wasted money spent on the project so far, and also attempted to kill another man’s legacy.

The Araromi new stadium was a 10 capacity project with 50 percent mobilization paid by the late former governor, Olusegun Agagu.

The Youths and sports development Commissioner assured the people of the state that the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration will build an Olympic size stadium that will befit the state.

Yusuf-Ogunleye who also visited the Akure Township Stadium, lamented the dearth of infrastructures in the sports complex.

He decried what he described as outright abandonment of the facilities at the complex.

The Commissioner expressed the readiness of the present administration to developing sporting activities in the state. He said, “There is no doubt about it that, this administration is ready to develop sporting activities. We are taking it to the next level.

“We will bring back most of our abandoned sporting activities. The Principal cups, the Inter school matches, we are bringing them all back.

” We are also going to ensure that our Youths are adequately engaged. We will take our Youths off the street. This administration do not want our Youths to be used as thugs “.
