The immediate past Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, on Wednesday condemned in strong terms, the alleged killings by herdsmen in Benue state and other parts of the country.

Mimiko was speaking while fielding questions from newsmen after a solidarity visit to the Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, by the Afenifere and Ohaneze Ndigbo groups, at the Benue State Government House in Makurdi.

The former Governor said no Nigerian should be killed in the name of religion or ethnicity, while calling on the Armed Forces and other security agencies to beef up security in areas where this type of killing was ongoing.

“Every Nigerian life is valuable either within or outside the country. No life should be lost as a result of inter-ethnic violence,” Mimiko said.

“I sympathize with the government and the good people of Benue state and hope that the Federal Government will nip these killings in the bud,” he added.
