Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, on Monday swore-in 16 new caretaker chairmen of local government councils in the State, charging them to engage the youth in creative venture and also pay special attention to the needs of women.
Besides he advised the new council bosses to be prudent and transparent in their transactions, adding that they must ensure that all on-going projects in their areas were completed.
Mimiko stressed that the chairmen should ensure harmonious relationship with technocrats, energize the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) mechanism and not to subject their people to unnecessary hardship.
While assuring of his administration’s commitment to rendering best service to the people of the State, the Governor advised the council chairmen to keep faith with the mantra of the State government to cater for the greatest number of the people.
He also assured of the peaceful conduct of local government election, which will be transparent and credible.
The swearing-in ceremony, which held at the State Cultural Centre in Akure was witnessed by the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele and other top government functionaries.
The new caretaker chairmen are; Alhaji Azeez Al-Aman (Akoko NorthEast), Hon.Joseph Aladetimehin (Akoko North West), Asiwaju WaleOzogoro (Akoko SouthEast),Mr Patrick Orimolade (Akure North), Hon.Akpoebi Ebielatei (EseOdo), Bar.Oladejo Adeloye (Idanre), Bar.Olaniran Wemimo (Ifedore), Mr Adegbite Samuel(IleOluji/OkeIgbo) and Mr Jeplita Obakpolor (Ilaje).
Others are; Mr Adesanmi Elumaro Julius (Irele), Mr Ikumawoyi Ayodele (Odigbo), Mr Solomon Bitire (Okitipupa), Mr Gafaru Akinkuolie (Ondo East), Hon. VictorOgunya (Ondo West), Mr Ilepe Johnson (Ose) and Mr Kehinde Lawal (Owo).Two of the former council chairmen- Hon. Adebayo Alarapon of AkureSouth and Mr Wale Suru of Akoko South West were retained because of their short tenure.
Responding on behalf of the new council bosses, Hon. Adesanmi Elumaro Julius of Irele local government promised to work in line with the policy directive of the State government. He vowed to justify to confidence reposed on them.
He assured the Governor and the people of the State of their irrevocable commitment to the welfare of their people.
