Ahead of the possible defection of the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), PDP has set up a seven-man Negotiation Committee to discuss further with the governor on the condition of his defection.
DailyPost recalls that the news of a possible defection of Governor Mimiko has been generating reactions in the past few days. While some of his aides have confirmed the move, Mimiko is yet to make public declaration on his defection.
A source in the PDP said the leadership of the party met yesterday at one of the popular hotels in Ijapo Estate, Akure, the state capital where the Committee was inaugurated.
The source however did not disclose the composition of the Committee.
However, it said that the Committee was to have a round-table discussion with Mimiko on how and when he would decamp to the party.
The State Chairman of the PDP, Hon Ebenezer Alabi said the Governor was yet to meet with the leadership his party in the state over his purported defection but said the party would welcome him if he comes.
Alabi who spoke with reporters in Akure, said he heard the defection rumour, but the party leadership had not met with him on the matter yet.
It would be recalled that Mimiko decamped to the ruling Labour Party (LP ) in 2006 from the PDP, after which he contested under the party ( LP) and won the 2007 Governorship election in the state .
