Mimiko lays aside NGF tussle, pays Fashola condolence visit

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, on Sunday visited his Lagos counterpart, Babatunde Fashola, to condole with him on the loss of his father, Pa Ademola Fashola.

He passed away last Monday at the age of 80.

Both men have been at loggerheads over the outcome of Nigeria Governor’s Forum election, with each supporting either side of the factions. Fashola has in fact dragged the Plateau state governor, Jonah Jang to court for parading himself as chairman of the body, even after he lost to governor, Rotimi Amaechi by 16 to 19 votes.

Mimiko, a former minister of Housing, is Jang’s deputy. The governor, who led top government officials to the Lagos State Government House, remarked that the life of Pa. Fashola is worthy of emulation.

“The common prayer in Yoruba is that we leave behind worthy children after a life well lived. That prayer has found practical fulfillment in the life and time of the departed Pa Fashola”, he said. “Not only has he left worthy children; he has also through an obvious liberal approach to religion left lessons of tolerance and neighborliness for us all,” Mimiko added
