Military begins 2017 pension verification exercise

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) in conjunction with Military Pensions Board (MPB) has scheduled a general verification exercise for all existing military pensioners on the pay roll of the Board from 26 November – 9 December 2017.

The exercise is meant to ascertain the existing pensioners on the current pension pay roll and to also update their biometric records.

Squadron Leader Ikenna Ezendu, Public Relations Officer, in a statement, said during the exercise, MPB Combo identification cards will be issued to pensioners who are yet to collect.

“Please note that detailed brief for the conduct of the exercise will be communicated at a later date by the Ministry of Defence”, it read.

“Consequently, all pensioners are requested to make themselves available for the verification exercise with all the relevant documents.

“The exercise will be only for military retirees who are currently being paid pensions by MPB. Fraudsters are warned to stay away from the verification centres as culprits will be prosecuted in line with extant laws”.
