Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has admitted that he wants to play for Nigeria at next year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The 28-year-old, if selected, will go as one of the three over-aged players in the squad.
Incidentally, Samson Siasia left Mikel Obi out of the 2008 edition of the Olympics in Beijing, after he snubbed playing in the qualifiers.
“He has made it clear he wishes to play at the Rio Olympics,” a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), told AfricanFootball.
“But it is left for the coach to pick who will be the overage players he will take along to Brazil next year.”
Siasia qualified for the tournament, after beating Algeria 2-1 last weekend, to clinch the U-23 AFCON crown.
