Religion is the opium of the people. To add to that clichéd saying, religion throws a multi-coloured light on the minds of individuals who follow blindly. Any man made religion, as a matter of fact, presents some undefined expedition, incidentally, to an unknown destination.
This expedition led Ese Walter, the lost sheep, to a destination of light. The light: a one-week holy copulation, which morphed into guilt and later, a public confession.
Walter’s confession (read here: http://esewalter.wordpress.com/2013/08/22/my-affair-with-pastor-biodun-fatoyinbo-of-coza/) created two parties: the touch not my appointed party and the kill him! Kill him! party. Whatever party you belong to is unimportant until we hear the pastor’s side of the story.
Some questions, however, must be asked: Can Walter be faulted? What evidence can she provide that she was mentally abused? Is the pastor, a mere man, perfect? What motivated the pastor to select Ese as another meat for his hungry loin? Could Ese have used her senses?
It was Fela who said: “My people, them go follow Bishop, follow Imam and start to yap themselves.” Here, Walter yapped her self. Remove any religious veil before thinking. We don’t need any man made religious organisation to find our God. What examples are we setting for the next generation? Allow the man of God tell you that fire is hot? Whatever happened to analysis, calculation and coming up with results?
Who are we to blame in this quagmire?
Pastors have been known to serve their congregations with pills until they lose their senses. One only hopes that other ladies learn from Walter’s lessons and inadvertently, “shine their eyes”. To conclude, it is true that “nobody holy pass.”
The Flying boy
And so it came to pass that a young man would fly from Benin to Lagos. The young man thought the Arik plane was making its way to the United States of America. What if the plane was heading to the US, would he have made it?
It is a shame to know that the boy crossed the airport and airline securities at the Benin Airport. This only shows the gross neglect that plagues our public space.
One wonders why the boy should be arrested. The operatives in the airport should be answering important questions on why they failed to locate the boy and if need be, certain individuals should be thrown in jail for their misconducts.
In the report, it was added that the boy tried to run away from strict rules set by his parents. That’s another area where most parents need to draw lessons from. How we treat our children would determine their actions now and in the future. It is very easy to make babies but it takes a total commitment to train them right.
In the end, the boy should be advised and should be made to see the dangers and foolishness of his act. This should be a wake-up call for him and other children. He should be reminded that his bright future might not be in America. It can be in Nigeria!
The Boko Burger
Reports gaining space in some Nigerian dailies show that the Boko Haram camp is in dire need. They lack food, water and shelter. This took place after the death of Mallam Shekau, their mini-god.
After some days without food, they have found another means to an end, which is: cannibalism. Reports state that three men have been eaten so far in a bid to beat hunger. It is not surprising that these elements would result to such existence since they have been known to tear up lives.
Since the advent of Boko Haram, lives have been lost in the most indescribable fashion. Men women and children have lost their limbs and many have died. Nobody, therefore, cares about a senseless group’s plight!
The boko burger is for sale only amongst them, made by them and for them. Should we care?
