Enyimba’s striker Mfon Udoh, as expressed his joy at finishing the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, as the all-time record scorer.
Although the Aba Warriors did not win the League, Udoh found the net 23 times as they finished behind Kano Pillars, to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
He told Goal: “Yes, I must say it is a perfect season. Winning the top scorer award means a lot to me. I’m really grateful to God and wish to use this medium to appreciate my coaches, my teammates, importantly Coach Kadiri Ikhana for making it possible for me.
“He made me know more about myself, rediscover myself, see what I can do. He has been encouraging me into trying to score in every game of the season.
“It means so much writing my name in the history books of Nigeria’s scorers of all time. It makes me feel so glad. It shows that at least I’ve done some thing right. I think hard work had paid off for me. I wish those attackers which are going to be playing in the league next season to work hard and break the record. It really means so much to me breaking and setting a new all time goal record.
“I’m so glad with the attackers this season. It really showed the league is improving. You can see almost two people have beaten the last record set in the Nigeria Premier League. So I really hope the attackers will come up to break the record.”
The Akwa Ibom state indigene, also admitted that he was keen to test himself in one of the European Leagues next year.
“I’m hoping to play in one of the top class leagues outside the shores of this country,” he added. “Most importantly some where in Europe. It’s depends on where the offers come from, but I will fancy to play in Spain. I believe the time is ripe for me to move to the next level and compete with other top strikers in the World.”
