Barcelona and Argentina forward, Lionel Messi, has created history by winning the Ballon d’Or, for a fourth consecutive time.

He won the award ahead of Barcelona team-mate,Andres Iniesta and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentine attacker becomes the first player in history, to win the Ballon d’Or four times in succession. He previously shared the record of three consecutive victories with Michel Platini, while Dutch duo Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten also won the prize three times.

It was no great surprise, as the 25-year-old enjoyed a sensational 2012, where he scored 91 goals for club and country.
