Messi scores twice as Barcelona clinch domestic double

Lionel Messi was Barcelona’s inspiration again, as they defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-1 to lift the Copa Del Rey on Saturday evening.

In the first half, the diminutive Argentine picked up the ball and skipped past five players, before giving the Catalans the lead in the 20th minute.

Luis Suarez unselfishly passed to Neymar to double their lead, before Messi added more gloss in the second half. Inaki Williams scored the consolation for Athletic, who were completely outclassed.

Barcelona had earlier won the La Liga title this month and will be looking to complete an unprecedented Treble, when they face Juventus in the UEFA Champions League final on June 6.
