Lionel Messi is “very comfortable” with the news that Luis Enrique ‎will step down as Barcelona manager at the end of this season, sources have told Goal.

Enrique announced that he will not be at the Camp Nou next season, after their 6-1 win against Sporting Gijon, a result which saw them climb to the top of La Liga.

“I want to announce to everyone that I won’t continue at Barcelona next year. It’s difficult, but a decision I have thought about,” he said.

“I need to rest. That’s the main reason why I am not going to continue.”

It is also understood that Enrique’s decision will have no impact on the current contract talks between Messi and the club.

Messi’s current deal expires next year and the Blaugrana are keen to keep their star forward at the club for a longer time.
