Wayne Rooney has said that Lionel Messi is the best player ever – rating him above former Manchester United team mate, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The England striker, was asked to pick between the best two players in the world and he chose the Barcelona forward, admitting that Ronaldo was unlucky.
“They’re two different players. But I think Messi’s incredible. I think he’s the best ever, so I’d have to say Messi,” Rooney said in a Google hangout with DHL.
“But Ronaldo has been a bit unlucky because, in any other time, he’d be winning all the awards Messi has. But they’re two of the best players of all-time.”
Ronaldo has scored 183 goals in 181 games for Real Madrid, since he moved from England, while Messi has scored 301 times in 366 matches for the Catalonian club.
