Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has told the club he will not put pen to paper on a new contract, before the summer transfer window closes.
Spanish outlet, Marca, claims that Messi wants to see how the club operates in the final days of the transfer market, before committing his future to them.
Barca have endured a disappointing window, which saw Neymar leave in a world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain. They have also been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Liverpool playmaker, Philippe Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele.
While Messi is annoyed by the situation, it is understood he is not actively looking to leave the Nou Camp and is still happy at the club.
Any contract extension would likely be signed in September on his return from international duty, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s current deal set to expire next summer.
