Messi buys £26m hotel in ‘Spain’s gay capital’

Barcelona star Lionel Messi, has paid a reported £26m for MiM hotel in the Mediterranean resort of Sitges.

Sites which is 20 miles south of Barcelona, is known as Spain’s gay capital.

The town has scores of gay and lesbian bars and clubs and hosts the Mardi Gras Carnival every February.

The four-star hotel was opened in 2013 and has been managed for the past monty by the Majestic Group, which owns four hotels in Barcelona and acts as advisor to another hotel in Majorca.

They will continue running things at the 77-room hotel.

Rooms at the Mim hotel cost around £220 to £260 a night in high season.

Messi is understood to have created a new company, Rosotel, to invest in hotels and apartments.
