An educationist, and expert in Adult Education, Mr. Bunyamin Zakariyah on Monday said examination malpractices tend to destroy the future of students who get involved in it.

Zakariyah, in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST explained that the only instrument of nation-building is qualitative education, which facilitates rapid growth and development of any nation.

He decried the level of examination malpractice in the country, which he said has the potency of destroying the future of students, if it is not being checked quickly.

According to him,” the most annoying part of the mess is that some parents do encourage their wards to toe this line of dishonour and indirectly making their future bleak in a way”.

He suggested concerted efforts of all stakeholders in the sector, including parents to come together and stem the tide.

“We cannot continue this way, there is so much rot in the education sector, this mess has totally eroded the reading culture in our students and make the future looks so bleak.

“Obviously, a nation that considers reading as an alternative forgone is bound to fail in all ramifications, that is why I always say that examination malpractice is “future destroyer”.

“Parents who are aiding their wards to perpetrate this atrocity are big enemies of the country, they are not helping the children in any way, ” Zakariyah said.

He, however, advised government at all levels to institutionalize the compulsory primary education across the country, to increase literacy level, and build an egalitarian society.
