Mentally unstable woman who gave birth in Kaduna finally taken to her home in Sokoto


A Non Governmental Organization, Initiative for Muslim women of Nigeria, IMWAN, on Sunday in Kaduna handed over the lunatic woman, Hassana, that gave birth to a baby boy at Kaduna Central Market to Kaduna State government.

The lunatic woman was in turns handed over to Sokoto State government, her home state through its ministry of women affairs to be reconnected back to her family.

The chair person of the NGO, Hajiya rabiatu safiyan, accompanied by other members of the organization and a team of psychiatric personnel said, the NGO spent a lot of money for Hassana in carrying out all treatment at the psychatric hospital for the patient to get better since the first day she was discovered to have given birth to a baby boy at the Kaduna central market.

Hajiya Rabiatu Safiya added, “We should be grateful to Almighty God for the assistance that was given to Hassana by every one that has contributed immensely to the success of regaining back the memories of Hassana. We have finally succeeded in handing her over to the ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Sokoto State, in order to trace her family and be reconnected back to the society where she comes from.”

Hajiya Rabiatu said the lunatic woman was accompanied from Kaduna to sokoto with members of Kaduna State ministry of women affairs and one of her family members, Amirah of sokoto state to ensure there was a successful handing over between the two parties in order to enable Hassana reconnects back to her family.

“It is our NGO that has done everything for her and the baby, both money that was paid for her feeding, clothing while she was at the psychiatric hospital at Barnawa Kaduna South,” she explained.

Hajiya Rabiatu Safiyan said that the team of specialists and psychiatric doctors with the members of the NGO always visit Hassana and surround her for discussion while trying to know where she comes from.

“From the beginning, she didn’t like talking to people and even embarked on hunger strike for some days when her son was taken away from her after given birth to a baby boy. But when she finally saw her son close to her, she started eating and talking to people around her, thereafter, she mentioned her name and her state of origin, Sokoto State,” she revealed.

Hajiya Rabiatu called on philantropists,NGOs and Civil Society Organizations to assist the mentally challenged people with food, clothes and shelter while calling on the government to provide adequate security to all mentally challenge persons sleeping on the streets and begging for food.
