Bauchi State government has dismissed reports on the outbreak of Cerebro-spinal Meningitis, CSM, in the state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Halima Mukaddas, disclosed that contrary to reports, no case of meningitis has been recorded so far in the state.
She said precautions against the deadly disease such as meningitis vaccination has commenced in primary healthcare centres in the state, therefore, no need for residents to panic.
Mukaddas added that drugs to forestall outbreak of an epidemic has also been purchased.
She, however, confirmed five cases of Lassa fever in Alkaleri, Ganjuwa and Bauchi councils, saying two persons have been confirmed dead while three others are still on treatment.
