Media against us – Wike

The Rivers state government has accused the media of bias in their reportage of activities and events in the state.

The state governor, Nyesom Wike made the accusation while speaking on a phone-in radio programme, monitored by DAILY POST in Port Harcourt.

Wike said he is aware that some “elements” were sponsoring a negative media campaign to scare investors away from the state.

He said reports of insecurity is a general menace in Nigeria and other states of the federation.

The Governor said the state is not bothered by the propaganda because observers are not unaware of the implementation of the new Rivers vision.

According to him, “We are aware that some people are deliberately sponsoring negative reports about Rivers state. I don’t know what they want to achieve.

“There is insecurity everywhere; for instance, two Judges were kidnapped in Kogi state last week but how many people heard about it. There are kidnappings in Kaduna but nobody talks about it. But let something happen in Rivers state, you will see it on the front page of National papers. What is their interest?” he asked.
