Mechanic stabs sales boy to death for scratching client’s car in Lagos

A mechanic, Fatai Bashiru, has been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his sales boy to death in Mushin area of the state.

Bashiru reportedly accused Shedrach Emenike, also known as Chiboy of scratching his client’s car.

According to reports, Chiboy, who worked in a beer store and usually supplied customers in the area, had gone to supply goods on Wednesday and was alleged to have mistakenly scratched a car parked by the roadside with the truck he drove.

The following day, he had gone to deliver goods again when the mechanics in the area spotted him and they challenged him for scratching a car belonging to their customers.

In the process, there was a disagreement and Bashiru picked one of the bottles in the truck, smashed it on the ground and stabbed Chiboy in the armpit.

Onlookers and residents rushed to his rescue and took him to the general hospital.

The victim, who had lost so much blood, was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Bashiru took to his heels on noticing his victim was lying in the pool of his blood.

Policemen were said to have raided the area to make some arrests but some of the persons (Bashiru’s co-workers), who were arrested, were reportedly released when there was nothing linking them to the crime.

Confirming the incident to newsmen on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Dolapo Badmos said the suspect fled after learning of Emenike’s death and his whereabouts remains unknown.

“We have a report that one Emenike was stabbed to death by one Bashiru.

“The corpse has been deposited in the Mainland Hospital mortuary, Yaba, although Bashiru is on the run, one of the suspects is assisting police with investigations,” Badmus added.
