MC Oluomo: Oshodi LG chairman speaks on rumoured death of NURTW boss, violence in parts of Lagos

The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Idris Muse-Ariyoh, on Thursday debunked news on social media that there was crisis in Oshodi.

Muse-Ariyoh described as “fake news” the rumour that MC Oluomo is dead.

Rising from a security meeting, Muse-Ariyoh called on the people to remain calm and go about their normal business.

Those at the meeting included the three Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), representatives of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the State Environment and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce), the Elewu of Ewutuntun Oba Shakirudeen Adesina Kuti and Secretary to the Local Government.

“It’s no longer news, the fracas that occurred at the Mega Campaign flag off of the All Progressives Congress(APC) at the sky power playground, GRA, Ikeja on Tuesday 8th January ,2019 in the battle for supremacy among the top echelon of NURTW which claimed a life and many injured.

“There are insinuations and misinformation on the state of security in Oshodi. I have come to address the press to erase every doubt and restore confidence back in the mind of the people that Oshodi- Isolo Local Government is safe as haven.

“Men of the security are on red alert to prevent any breakdown of law and order that may occur due to the incident which affected Alhaji MC Oluomo (Lagos State NURTW Treasurer), a resident of Oshodi.

“People should go about their businesses likewise those on transit as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos state , CP Imohimi Edgal has assured me of his men competence and readiness to forestall any breakdown of law and order in Oshodi and his environs.

“Alhaji Akinsanya Musilu has been hospitalised and he is recuperating fast and he will soon be reunited with his family.

“Let me use this medium to sound a strong warning to those planning to cause crisis based on what happened to have a rethink as the government won’t condone any act capable to bring unrest in the community.

“Anyone caught in the act will not go unpunished. Oshodi is calm, peaceful and I urge everyone to continue to be law abiding, continue with their legitimate business while parents and guardians should warn their wards from any act of lawlessness,” Ariyoh said in a statement sent to DAILY POST.
