Mbu is a politician in Police uniform, he nearly killed Rivers economy – Amaechi

Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi has described the former commissioner of police in the state, Mr Mbu Joseph as a politician in police uniform.

He stated this on Thursday when the newly deployed commissioner of police of the state, Mr Dan Bature, in company of the outgoing commissioner and newly promoted assistant inspector general of police (AIG), Mr Tunde Ogunsakin, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Port Harcourt.

Amaechi recalled that the senior police officer attempted to cripple the economy of the state.

Mbu is now the assistant inspector-general of police (AIG) in-charge of Zone 7, Abuja.

He was FCT police commissioner under immediate past Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar.

Mbu, the governor said, deviated from his professional role of protecting lives and properties by serving politicians, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said, “The way Mr Mbu was going, Rivers’ economy would have collapsed completely. Fortunately for us, they took him away and brought you (Ogunsakin) and you restored calm.

“You tried to create a platform for all parties to have access to you. As you go, please go with that same spirit. The police in Rivers State should discharge their responsibility as it concerns the protection of lives and property”.

In his remarks, Ogunsakin said he would fondly remember his time in the state as he enjoyed the support of all citizens.

Also speaking, the new Commissioner, Bature assured that he would continue to provide level playing ground and listening ears to the people of Rivers.
