Chelsea will be without key midfielder Nemanja Matic, when they play the Capital One Cup final next weekend.
The Serbian was shown a straight red card by referee Martin Atkinson, during the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Matic pushed Ashley Barnes onto the pitch, in retaliation for a horrible tackle by the Burnley player. Atkinson missed the challenge, but pulled out a red card for the Chelsea man.
Unless he appeals the decision and it is reversed, the 26-year-old will miss the final against Tottenham Hotspur and league games against West Ham and Southampton.
Barnes was not booked for the tackle and also escaped a yellow card for a kick on Branislav Ivanovic in the first half.
